Cathy's Corner

Hello! My name is Cathy Harrel and I am one of the catechists in the atrium at St. Pius X Catholic School. My husband John and I have 4 adult children, all of whom are St Pius X alumni. I fell in love with Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in 2002 and was blessed to be able to begin our atrium here in the school and also at my home parish, St. Philip the Apostle. I hold a national certification in all three levels and am a nationally recognized Formation Leader, helping other adults who want to learn this work.

I have been an RN for over 30 years and have been part of the nursing faculty at TAMU-CC since 1997. I hold a Bachelor of Nursing from UNM, a Masters in Nursing from TAMU-CC, and a Bachelor in Religious Education from Cloverdale University. I love my work with the nursing students but love my time in the atrium with the children even more.

The atrium is a place of prayer, a place where we encounter the mystery of God through scripture and liturgy. In the atrium, everything has been prepared especially for them. Each week we explore the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. The opportunity to ponder these mysteries with children is a great gift! We welcome questions and visitors.
